I am using a Samsung Omnia running WM6.1
When using SPB Backup v2.0.1 I get this error message
--Unable to read from file "\POCKETFS.SYS"--
Anyone know what's causing this problem

Same here.... I'm backing up from main storage, and an SD card to the built in My Storage. I believe the file "\POCKETFS.SYS"--
lives in the built in 8/16GB I storage

This appears to be a common problem with all current backup solutions on the Omnia. I'm sure Spb will look into this, once they have a device to test it on (if they don't have one already).
The file is most likely a system file that doesn't change, and therefore wouldn't need to be backed up (you can deselect single files in Spb Backup options). However, this is just an educated guess; a definitive answer will have to come from Spb.

yes, you can restore from this backup.

That is good to know (as I have an Omnia with the same error LOL). So we can use the backup file with the error in it to restore, or do we have to do what ridolfo suggested and exclude that file from a future backup attempt?

syrguy1969
both solutions are similar.
the only difference is that if you exclude file from backup, you will not get error message.

I had a password on my Omnia when I backed up and was unsuccessful with my restore because it wouldn't accept my password. Everything SEEMED to restore, but I couldn't get past the password screen. Could this have been because of the pocketfs.sys error? (Was using spb Backup in trial mode, btw.)

what version of Spb Backup do you use?
did you try to check "do not restore device password" option before restore?

It's all fine and good to say you can do a restore, with or without the pocketfs file included, but this is not ideal if you have scheduled backups running - to get an error on every backup you do.

Please could you let us know the best way to deal with this?

you can add this file to the exceptions list (ignored files) in Spb Backup settings.

This is mostly just a BTT to see if SPB has a fix in the works for the Omnia. It looks like Resco solved this on the 5th of January with version 2.01. Maybe SPB will fix it soon as I like SPBbackup more. I use the Mobile Shell all the time on my Omnia i910. In fact it is the only reason I kept my omnia coming from my treo 700p.

Keep up the good work. I love the programs you have produced.

Feldhege
did you add this file to exclusion list?
or you added it and it didn't resolve the issue?

I did now and it appears to work. Just didn't know if it would affect the restore in anyway.
